Released in 2014, these were a special release by Nike in collaboration with a Louisiana skate shop, Rukus. The theme of the shoe is “crawfish” and everything on the shoe stays true to that theme. The red speckled suede represents the crawfish, the silver toe represents the pot, the yellow stitched leather represents corn on the cob and the newspaper middle panel is the table cloth you eat it all on.
I stumbled upon these sneakers through eBay and got them for a pretty good price. The dogged pursuit of the theme sold me right away despite the fact that they weren’t in the best condition. I also tried crawfish for the first time this year in Louisiana and I fell in love with it so I had to pick these kicks up. As stated before, the condition of these was kinda rough but it came with both sets of laces, the original box and I couldn’t turn down the challenge to try and restore them to their former glory. I used my Jason Markk cleaning solution with my bristle brush and I think they came out pretty good. As you can see in the pictures, they aren’t perfect and some spots would not come out but I’m happy with them.
