Playlist for the week of February 25, 2019:

  1. Aladdin by Future Islands: The homie Tyler aka Sauce recommended Future Islands to me and I’m digging them so far.  The lead singer’s voice is unique and the vibe is happy and fast paced, perfect driving music.
  2. New House by Rex Orange County: Having recently discovered Rex Orange County’s music last year, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what he’s about as an artist.  I enjoyed this most recent release and hope that it is a sign of new music to come.
  3. Runaround Sue by Dion: Caught the movie Little Big League on TV the other night and was delighted to hear this track.  It’s part of an excellent baseball montage sequence in the movie which I have so graciously provided below….
  4. Sanctified by Rick Ross f/ Kanye West and Big Sean: This track came on my shuffle and I forgot how infectious that hook and this whole song is.  Great track off the only Rick Ross album I’ve ever listened to.
  5. Brad Jordan by Isaiah Rashad f/ Michael Da Vinci: Whenever I come back to Isaiah Rashad’s TDE debut, Cilvia Demo I find a new track to fall in love with.  This time I found it with “Brad Jordan”.  Rashad’s flow and delivery goes perfectly while driving around in a whip and I found myself transfixed by the Scarface dedicated track.  “Goddamn my man, feel like I’m Brad Jordan.”
  6. Enforce the Law (remix) by Nottz f/ Asher Roth: The duo of Asher Roth and Nottz is such an underrated force in underground Hip Hop.  I could only find the remix on Spotify which is still great but I think I like the original is better.
  7. Don’t Fence Me In by Labrinth: One of my favorite songs of the new year and all thanks to a Mini Cooper commercial of all things.  A remake of a 1934 classic by Cole Porter, but Labrinth makes it his own.  I had the TV on while I was tidying up my room when I heard Labrinth come in with “Give me land lots of land…” and I was hooked.  Haven’t stopped listening since.
