When I saw leaked images of these, I knew I had to have them.  1/3 Carolina blue, 1/3 Obsidian blue and 1/3 Sail; it’s like these kicks were made specifically for my preferred color pallette.  Sure, I might bleed green but I look best in blue.

The oversaturation of Jordan 1 releases the past few years has been a talking point amongst the sneaker community.  Most sneakerheads would look at my collection and scoff at me owning “Turbo Green’s” and “Obsidians” before “Shadows” or “Chicago’s;”  but the truth is, I wish I did have the classic models but I’m not willing to pay a resell price to get them.  My stance is “If I can’t get em, I don’t need em” (word to Smoke DZA on the latest episode of Full Size Run). The “Obsidians” are just another case of me getting lucky with the Nike SNKRS app.  I woke up 5 days before these were set to release with a notification on my phone.  The notification read simply, “we’ve reserved your pair until 5pm.”  Groggily, I stared at my phone trying to decipher what the cryptic message meant.  As realization dawned on me, I hurriedly opened the app and saw these beauties just sitting in my cart.  My jaw dropped.

Two days before these were set for a wide release, I came home to a large package on my doorstep.  I could see the Nike check on the side of the box all the way from the street as I pulled into the driveway. I ripped the cardboard box open and slid the old school black and red Nike box out of its cardboard home.  Immediately upon lifting the lid, I could smell the leather.  Lifting the tissue paper up, the smell only got stronger and more intoxicating as I laid eyes on this beautiful pair of sneakers.  They looked perfect.  The University blue is a creamy light North Carolina blue that only Jordan Brand could create.  The Obsidian a dark and harsh contrast to the lighter blue hues.  The perfect blend of light and dark.

Securing this pair was a big moment for my sneaker collecting prowess.  I’ve worn them twice already and each time eyeballs find my feet before even looking at my face.  To be honest, it’s a great feeling to wear a pair of kicks like this and have people slobbering all over them.  Personally, this pair just fits with me.  I have a crazy amount of blue sneakers and this pair is just the cherry on top.  I love everything about them and I was lucky to be able to secure them.
